5 tips on how to change your business name!

We did it.. we made a huge change.. was it scary HELL YES... Did it take some journaling for weeks around this YESS, but when you feel so aligned with something you just need to jump right in with both feet and go for it.. Changing your business name after almost 4 years of holding onto a name that was meant for a BE-YOU-TEE-FULL line of tee shirts is SCARY AF.
The fear of judgement, the fear of people not being able to find me, or know who I am when I show up on social media anymore is REAL.. But I’ve found so many ways that are really helpful for me.
Here are my 5 tips for changing your business name.
Step 1: Decide. Make a choice, does your current business name not feel aligned with you anymore. Is it holding you back from offering even more than what you currently offer?
Step 2: Align with your business name. Does it feel good to you? Are you stuck on your new name? Take a deep breath and let go of the “I need a name before I execute my idea” mentality. It doesn’t work and it will keep you stuck forever. Let it go journal about it and I promise the name will come with ease.
Step 3: Make a list of everything you need to change! Email addresses, domain name, your website, your new re-brand colors, your guest blog posts, your social media accounts. I mean everything!
Step 4: Once you have that name in mind, check to see if your new name is available. I always use godaddy.com to check my domain name and run a bunch of ideas through there and then I check the search bar in instagram as well to make sure I can use the handle I want as well. If you need to add the underscore _ or some numbers into your instagram handle that’s fine too!
Step 5: Celebrate your re-brand journey with your followers, your email list, your friends and family! Get excited this is a new chapter in your business and it means GROWTH! Even if you don’t have your logo or website fully done yet it’s really fun to get your following excited about your new vision and growth!
